I was the first person to slag Poch off last season! No track record and some appalling performances! Spoken to a couple of in the know people this season including a former premier league captain and a family member of one of the current squad who plays week in week out and both were unequivocal in their praise. The former captain rates him highly as a coach and the player according to the family member just loves playing for him! After so many unsettled years at the Lane I for one would love to see some stability and give the guy a proper chance! Thoughts fellow Spurs fans?

I agree SurreySpur, have banged my gums for long enough about stability for the club at management level.

2.) 17 Dec 2015 15:31:17
If ever there was a time to hold our nerve with a manager in the PL I'd suggest it's now, looking at the situation among the clubs around us I hate to admit but that lot up the road look the most stable . until they loose a couple of games and start demanding Wenger's head on a stake again.

3.) 17 Dec 2015 17:28:56
Nobody moans more than the raver but I want poch tied down for the next few years as something good is going to happen at our club in the next 2 or 3years. But I hear that little club in west London have him in their sights so watch this space.

Another shambolic transfer window from Mr Levy and Co! For god sake if we want Berahino just pay the asking price for him. To read reports today that we are looking to save 3 million quid and buy a South Korean playing in Germany just leaves me shaking my head! How much is qualification to the Champions League worth these days? Speculate to accumulate comes to mind and to leave it so late in the window again to recruit beggars belief.

SurreySpur

{Ed001's Note - Son is twice the player Berahino will ever be! If you get him I will cry as he was my ideal signing for Liverpool this summer.}

1.) 26 Aug 2015 18:21:47
Surrey, Son would be much better for us than Berahino. I'm baffled as to why Son is a back up to Berahino transfer it should of been the over way round. Maybe we will get both.

Apparently Son and Wanyama both have infections, keeping them out of their squads tonight!

2.) 26 Aug 2015 20:47:32
It annoys me that some Spurs fans come on this complaining about signing players from other leagues because they have never heard of them. I would take Son in a heartbeat. Do some research SurreySpur before you come on here whinging!!

{Ed001's Note - he was by far and away the best and most effective player in the recent Asian Nations tournament and has starred for Leverkusen. Liverpool wanted him rather than Firmino. Son is class.}

3.) 27 Aug 2015 21:49:17
You seem to have missed the point of my post Clankers! Forget research on potential incoming players. Did that in the past with Soldado and Lamela plus Capoue and Chicheres and YouTube clips and the odd game on BT sport made them all look like the second coming! If we get Son I ll bet you that Berahino will score more goals playing for a mediocre West Brom side.

Nothing changes the fact that we have been an absolute joke in the transfer market with a chairman who's penny pinching attitude will hold us back! If you believe anything else then you are sadly deluded! Do some research on the last 5 seasons net transfer spend and see what Enics priorities are Clankers!

4.) 28 Aug 2015 07:52:59
Surreyspur, would you pay more for something than you believe it's worth? Is it penny pinching or is it just sensible?

5.) 28 Aug 2015 09:58:19
Surrey, Son isn't a main striker like Berahino though. If I could of handpicked a wing forward type player from any team Son would be right up there. He may flop but I'm extremely happy we are in for him.

6.) 28 Aug 2015 10:10:03
Spurs1985 I would pay above the going rate if I believed the eventual returns and benefits would be worth it! At this point in time the top 4 clubs and Liverpool are heavily investing in pursuit of the Champions league and the riches on offer and we just are not competing on the same level. I'm not asking for Ronaldo or Messi but if we are quibbling over £3 million quid to get the Berahino deal done then God help us! If Berahino improved at his current rate for us over the next 2 seasons then he would be worth well over £25 million anyway and we know Levy would then sell as eventually he does with all our best players!

7.) 28 Aug 2015 11:32:13
If it's "only" 3 million quid why don't you donate the money to the club on the understanding they use it to purchase the player?
Every signing is a gamble and it could end up going the other way a la Lamela. I don't believe for a second you would pay 300k for a house worth 100k in the hope one day it pays off? Be honest, would you? Buying Berahinio will not guarantee champions league so it still becomes a risk. That said I believe we will try one last time for him.

Have been watching Spurs for 30 years and never has it felt more like watching paint dry! I know the pitch is horrific and we only need a point but can't remember the last time I was excited by a Spurs performance. Think the whole banter page reflects where we all are at the moment! Losing faith rapidly.

SurreySpur

1.) 12 Dec 2014 11:41:43
did you watch the game against Everton?

2.) This was never going to be an overnight fix. The last few years the management of the club has been poor and confusing. Poch is picking up the pieces and I think he's doing a decent job. This season was always going to be about transformation of the team, in the players, the attitude, and the style.

This half of the season is about assessing the squad to see who can stay and who should go. In January we should look to make a couple of changes in thee right direction.

Expect a lot more odd performances and disappointing results. The point is to get a cohesive team and a good run in the last 10 games of the season to put us in place for next season.

Don't lose faith, just postpone it for another 8 months.

3.) 12 Dec 2014 14:38:43
top response Wulf, spot on

4.) I did watch the Everton game and yes it was better but it certainly wasn't great! Everton should have got a point out of the game at the very least! Wulf I respect your views as every post I have read of yours makes sense but I'm afraid I don't share your confidence in the Poch! A seriously unproven manager!

5.) 12 Dec 2014 20:53:28
Some folk on here don't like the fact that it is a transitional season.

Southampton have adapted to their new manager quickly yes but maybe his tactics aren't as hard to get used to as Pochettino's.

Lets see who we get in January and who we can sell and then judge Poch next season, with the players he wants who knows what we could achieve if his pressing game works and Poch will be having a say in any transfers its in his contract.

6.) Do you know for a fact MoPo has a say Spurski? That said I find it hard to believe he wouldn't have a say . but then I've seen Benjie have a good performance and can't make the bench for any PL games. Then puts in another good shift when played again . surely if MoPo "approved" the signing he would be getting time in the PL games.

7.) 13 Dec 2014 17:06:52
Yellowcard, The problem is people on here have no idea how these things work. You can tell by reading posts that most fans believe it's the DOF who buys the players. This is a strong misconception as his job is purely to negotiate the ins and outs of players. I'm not going to go into detail as it's way to complex but the bottom line is basically, no manager/coach chooses his own players he only chooses the style of player he wants and is given a list. All the big clubs work this way with no exceptions.

{Ed001's Note - simply not true, clubs all have different ways of working and the DoF has various remits throughout football, depending on the particular club's vision. As for a manager/coach not choosing players, then being given a list, why is he being given a list if he is not choosing? Or are you saying he only gets to choose from a list given to him? If so, how is that any different from what has always been done, but just a head scout giving a list of players to suit the style wanted? The manager/coach will still take a look at a list and maybe watch a few videos or go and watch the players he likes live and then pick from that.}

8.) 13 Dec 2014 21:51:16
Not as a fact but I never said it was a fact.

He has said in various interviews that he has a say in transfers and he no doubt will to suit his tactics.

9.) " and Poch will be having a say in any transfers its in his contract."

Reads like someone that is stating a known fact to me.

10.) 15 Dec 2014 15:20:22
Your being a touch pedantic.

I'm watching the 3rd place play off game and I'm utterly at a loss with what Paulinho actually provides for Brazil as I was the whole of last season with Spurs! Am I missing something? Comments please

SurreySpur

1.) He brings nothing to the party and looks out of sort when it's a quick tempo game

2.) Is go as far as saying he is worse then huddlestone

3.) At least Huddlestone could spray the ball around the park with accuracy.

4.) A scary prospect watching him in a Spurs shirt again next season!

5.) 13 Jul 2014 02:06:25
Juventus want him. Agreed that Paulinho isn't good enough. The slower Serie A would suit him more.

6.) Juventus can have him, my mates doing a delivery to Italy next week, he will take him for nothing!

You may say that Spurs1985 and Northeast but we are bang in trouble this season! No backup striker is a serious problem and I'm praying that Son and Njie can bring some seriously needed creativity and goals.

Let's be brutally honest in saying that a nett spend over the previous 5 seasons of 11plus million in Enics favours makes us just what we are! Perennial underachievers!

Jog on Gunner 62! Was a nothing game between 2 reserve teams. If you gunners are getting excited by that then I pity you for the rest of the season!

I think what we Spurs forget is the mediocrity of the late 90s and the early 2000s! Always a few banner signings coming towards the end of their careers such as Klinsman, Ginola etc but never a squad to compete! Think Gary Doherty, Darren Bent etc and know that they wouldn't get within a mile of our current squad! I'm as frustrated as the next Spurs fan with stalling last season but with the new stadium finally being approved and a Chairman who let's be honest has overseen our best periods for many many years I'm positive for the future of the mighty Spurs!
