Ross Barkley, looks very likely to happen with his contract situation and us looking like the only club interested.

I think his natural talents and potential are undoubtable and Pochettino clearly thinks he can mould him into a top player. In Poch I trust.

I'm guessing a lot of you would see Barkley as a terrible signing, so interested to hear your thoughts?

Poshspur

1.) 17 Jul 2017 13:55:46
I think Ross Barkley will be a great signing for spurs, lads I will now try and be more positive about spurs as I've had a bad few weeks with the vodka and marching dust but I've been detoxing and I feel like a brand new man again and my health is getting better. I think we will be the team everyone will fear this season if we can get 2 or 3 quality players in then the title will be ours.

2.) 18 Jul 2017 10:17:39
Ross got skills but where will he play?
What has he done?
How's his international record? How long has he been around? Can you blame it on Everton? They've sold Lukaku, Fellani for big bucks. Why has he stayed? Why is he now set to depart?
Mr Underwhelming. A signing to appease the fans but not a superstar. Ladies and gents, boys and girls, this is your 'fan appeasement' signing.

Don't believe the price tag in the news. There's a lot of add ons and 'maybes' in that. He's going to take Dele's place? No. Unless Dele isn't staying. Bad business and bad news. People are so desperate for world class English talent that anyone who flashes skill is the new Gazza. How did that work out for Wilshere? Anyone? Buller?

3.) 18 Jul 2017 10:18:32
Raver, you need to check yourself before you wreck yourself.

4.) 18 Jul 2017 10:19:13
Barkley failed his medical.

5.) 18 Jul 2017 10:20:29
Barkley is still young and has some real issues around concentration during games. He also lacks the technical fame for tackling and therefore his defensive contribution is weak.

Still young and never looked 100% fit in my opinion, so would definitely benefit from Pochetino's fitness and technical discipline training and guidance.

Dribbling is his forte and he can pass, play clever through balls and find key passes regularly. His shooting ability from range is impressive, and I believe he could give us the extra dimension.

For me his best position is the engine in CM alongside someone like Wanyama he would be fantastic. Much better than Dembele at shooting but much worse at defending, so a very different option. I see Barkley being deployed as a more offensive option for home games, and Dembele perhaps the preferred choice away.

The alternation will give Dembele the cover he desperately needs, and Dier could also join this rotation with Wanyama. With the Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and Premiership, we will need strength in depth. Also don't underestimate the challenge of playing the sameXI like last year on a much bigger pitch. Having to play so many games on a much larger pitch will sap the same group of players.

Barkley could be a fantastic acquisition if we play our transfer negotiations successfully. £25-30m would be a bargain in the current climate for a player like him.

6.) 18 Jul 2017 14:13:54
Oracle - When did Barkley have a medical then.?

7.) 18 Jul 2017 16:54:36
Thanks de sacc man I definitely need to check myself as for wrecking myself, I've already done that drinking addict, marching powder addict, and a gambling addict and a spurs addict. You are spot on about any English talent as they are all the next Gascoigne and then they all go missing, but I do think dele Ali will go all the way in his career as one of the English greats for spurs and England.

8.) 18 Jul 2017 22:59:38
Agreed Raver.
Dele is the real deal. Keeping him is top top priority.
Barkley isn't all that for the money Everton want. I'd rather the money go to a long term deal with insane release clauses for the core of the team.

9.) 19 Jul 2017 13:52:39
Oracle,

Has there been a 2nd medical? I was informed that the deal 'in principle' was agreed a while ago. It was all tied up with getting maximum cash from Man City without having to delve into da cash pot. Medical, terms etc agreed. Southampton made an enquiry and were told it was a 'done deal'. Fact.

My sources tell me that the player in question is now concerned that he will actually have to leave and won't be getting that new contract at his boyhood club. This gets worse. So. Buying a hype player who has no guaranteed staring position, for well over the odds and really doesn't want to come?

The ifs, buts, whys and when's mean da time is now. Now he's regretting being a baby. Loved to be proven wrong but had dis from 2 many people.

10.) 21 Jul 2017 09:52:39
All I heard is he failed a medical and now has a reported grion injury. I hope this is a Levy ploy to get a lower price, but it seems bizarre at this stage of the window.

Most Spurs fans were expecting a big window after 7 years of NET neutral transfer dealings. We sold Walker £54m, Bentaleb £16m, N'Jie £6m and Fazio £3m. We have signed a NIKE deal for £150m and just received over £130m from last years rights.

Most fans were expecting us to spend £100m + the mkney from sales of the players above £79m.

Mahrez £40m
Ousame Dembele £50m
Mousa Dembele £45m
Alfie Mawson £30m
Ross Barkley £40m

This is the sort of news people were expecting and we are being linked with Foyth, Suso, Seri and others at fractions of these prices.

I still feel the window will end positively but even those in the know seem to have nothing. Very bizarre things are happening at Spurs!

Hearing rumours there is interest in Viktor Fischer of Ajax.

Would love to see him on the left and no doubt he would add a creative element and take the onus of his countryman.

Could such interest be viable in your opinion Ed's?

Poshspur

{Ed001's Note - they will sell for the right price and he is keen to move on, so yes it would be viable, though I don't know of any move being made, you have certainly had him tracked for a few years now.}

26 Jan 2015 16:54:29
Eds, is there any truth in the destro rumours being tooted? The rumours seem to have caught a second wind today. Thanks

Poshspur

{Ed002's Note - I know nothing of any "Destro rumours".}

14 Jan 2015 19:57:24
Carlos Bacca is a name popping up a lot recently. Some are saying talks are taking place with a deal involving Soldado to go the other way.

Ed's have you heard anything on this?

To the community, would you welcome this deal?

Personally I think with his pace and power he would be a welcome addition and could result in a good partner for Kane up top. Not the youngest or the best but we are in serious need for a striker and Levy seems to loath the rather more sensible and logical idea of bringing in a proven one from the premier league. (too expensive he says; then pays 20 mil for a 29 YO unproven!)

Thanks in advance for your reply Ed's

Poshspur

{Ed001's Note - you have held talks with Sevilla regarding Soldado, I don't know anything about Bacca's involvement though sorry.}

Reports of Guarin to spurs for 15mil.

anything your end ends?

Poshspur

{Ed002's Note - I was told that Spurs are not interested in him a week or so ago when it was suggested they would bid.}

1.) The story of 10m plus Soldado doesn't make sense to me. I can't see how Soldado's value dropped that much in 1 season.

{Ed008's Note - Thus valuing Guarin at over 30m? Can't see Levy selling him for less then 15m he'd want to get as much money as he can plus Guarin had a very inconsistent season with Inter wasn't impressed with him tried to get a move to Juventus which p*ssed a few people off at Inter..

2.) 14 Aug 2014 01:18:38
He always disappoints whenever I've seen him play.

3.) I can't see why we would move soldado out plus 10mil to get in another midfielder. We have about 10 midfielders and only 3 strikers. Surely if Soldado goes it will be for another striker or for money for another striker? If we don't sign another striker I will be amazed and pretty disappointed

4.) 14 Aug 2014 15:40:00
Maybe Remy or Bacca.

5.) Seems like the Destro rumor is picking up steam again in the various media outlets.

If we are thinking on spending 30+ for a 28yo Silva, I really don't get why we wouldn't spend 70m on Keita and steal him from under Liverpools nose.

Wanyama - Keita would be a menacing pairing and take us to the next level don't you think?

Poshspur

1.) 14 Jul 2017 17:30:36
You can't afford wages or that price tag, why is that so hard for spurs fans to understand?

2.) 14 Jul 2017 18:06:22
Gunnerbod why do you feel the need to get involved in every conversation on the spurs page. You never even post on the Arsenal one. It's embarrassing!

3.) 14 Jul 2017 19:22:40
Yes we can you Oddbod.

4.) 15 Jul 2017 00:06:25
dont mention the wanyama i had to dab my eyes with a hankie there i was gutted when he left celtic lol.

5.) 15 Jul 2017 10:13:34
Ryan, I do it to bring you lot down to earth, I speak the truth and clearly you don't like that.

6.) 15 Jul 2017 23:42:35
Wodbod is spot on we won't pay top dollar for top players.

7.) 16 Jul 2017 11:58:56
Thank you raver, Ellis if you can then why don't you? Your wage structure is much lower than the top sides in the league and until your stadium is paid for that is very unlikely to change which could take a decade to do that's the truth.

8.) 16 Jul 2017 15:03:23
Who are the top sides Oddbod?

9.) 17 Jul 2017 14:38:31
Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool did you really not know who the top sides are in the league?

10.) 17 Jul 2017 20:29:22
I thought top as in it meant teams who were literally at the top. That would be Chelsea, Tottenham and City. For one minute i thought you was shoehorning in Arsenal, my mistake.

02 Feb 2016 02:58:28
I know this may be a disagreeable opinion for many of you out there; but I for one am actually quite pleased with the business done this window.

We made some good sales, the obvious one being the quite ridiculous £12 mil for Townsend and will have Pritchard getting premier league experience after his injury.

My view is that Poch is confident in this squad being able to hit top 4, so being confident in the quality of our potential back up players for Kane such as Chadli, Son and Clinton. I for one agree with him.

Lets back this squad and watch as we instead invest heavily in the summer; attracting the better quality of player we are only open to deal with after achieving a top 4 finish.

BELIEVE! COYS!

Poshspur

1.) 02 Feb 2016 06:49:24
Poshspur, I don't agree on the back up striker situation but I too am very pleased with the season so far .
As for heavily investing in the summer, not a chance! Don't forget we will have a new ground to pay for .

2.) 02 Feb 2016 16:57:54
I agree a young striker like Dembele would have been great and make sense. But with the lack of top quality strikers available in January it would have been silly too blow big money especially with them having to play second fiddle to Kane.

Personally think even with the stadium we will spend in summer. Levy knows his business and will spend the profits made since Poch has come in and support his manager if we get top 4.

Im not talking crazy spending like after the Bale saga, but would expect a top quality striker and DM with spending above 50mil in total; but only if mitchell and Poch think they are worth.

We have a great system at the club at the moment and our time of consistency at the top level is coming. COYS!

3.) 02 Feb 2016 18:17:11
Don't think we need a DM, Dier will be one of the best . But God do we need another striker!

4.) 02 Feb 2016 18:43:15
I agree that Dier will be a top class DM, though I would like to see someone with experience in this position to come in and be a help to such a player.

An experienced striker and DM coming in would result in the perfect blend of youth and experience in every positional sense which is what I feel Poch is clearly going for.

5.) 02 Feb 2016 21:56:46
But Posh, we don't have the space in the team for two DM .

{Ed025's Note - i think that would depend on who you were playing davo..

I hate mourinio, such boring tactics!

Poshspur

1.) But he wins trophies, consistently.

Poshspur

1.) Good one poshspur, best joke this year so far! Will be back making mistakes at LB this weekend!

2.) Yea that was a joke just to be clear!

Any whispers eds?

Poshspur

{Ed002's Note - About what?}

1.) Ed, I heard a whisper, it was a careless one about George Michael!
( sorry ) 🚽

Yes Lukaku is better, but people would of also said he was better than Bale when he was 20, look at him now. The point is potential, one still has time to become a top player and one doesn't.
